Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Monmouth.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Monmouth Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

As an expert film photographer I learned that digital is very different but the same. Also that many of the selections on my camera are basically useless for my needs. Just set the dial on "M" and go from there just like film.
The beginner class ended up being a one on one experience. Mai was great and helped refresh my memory about shutter speed and aperture settings. She taught me things about my camera that I didn?t know. I will never shoot on auto again. I also enjoyed visiting Cheesequake park as I had never been there.
I thought it was great. Mai was a very knowledgeable and friendly instructor.

Good place for photography with a good and knowledgeable instructor.

Title or Location: Avon by the Sea March 2020
Days before the COVID-19 lockdown, I went to Avon by the Sea with my photography group to capture the Spring morning light. As we walked on the beach, the formation of rocks and the rising sun caught my attention. I stopped and composed the shot. Afterward, I also noticed how the clouds in the sky looked like waves running up onto the beach.

Thank you for the consideration. Background to this photo.A couple of years ago on our local community page I saw a photo of a tree covered in bioluminescent fungi saying it was found in Gerroa, 5 minutes drive from me. Wow how amazing, so I set out to find it and photography it too. Since then I developed an interest in fungi and look forward to Autumn when there is plenty about. To enable me to photograph ghost fungi ( omphalotus nidiformis) I go for a bush walk during the day mostly

Mesa Arch is about a 25 minute walk from the parking lot in Canyonland National Park. At night, it's the darkest sky I've ever seen. This photo represents 20 stacked images of the Milky Way combined together in Starry Landscape Stacker. The result required the scene to be slightly brightened in post to bring out the foreground.
